The Johan Skytte Foundation which confers the annual Johan Skytte Prize in Political Science is happy to announce that the nomination period for the 2019 Skytte Prize is now open. The Johan Skytte Prize, often considered to be the political-science equivalent of the Nobel Prizes, is the most prestigious award within the field of political science. The laureate of the prize is awarded a medal crafted by renowned Swedish goldsmiths and prize money of half a million SEK (approximately 55.000 USD). 2019 marks the 25th jubilee of the Skytte Prize.
Nominations are welcome from researchers, practictioners as well as PhD students working in the field of political science. Nominations must include a well-developed nomination letter in which the nominator(s) elaborate on the reasons why the nominee deserves the prize and detail the contributions made to political science. We welcome nominations from groups of nominators but urge such groups to submit one joint nomination rather than submitting a number of nominations for the same nominee.
The committee particularly welcomes nominations for female researchers and/or non-Western academics who have made significant contributions to the field of political science. The committee further welcomes nominations for scholars who are still active within the discipline.
The nomination form together with more detailed instructions can be found here. The form works on all web browsers. You will get a confirmation e-mail upon a successful submission of the form. The form does not support saving of work-in-progress so we urge you to prepare your nomination letter in a word-proccessing programme and then copy-paste it into the nomination form. The nomination period ends on January 10, 2019.
Should you have any questions about the nomination process, contact our Master of Ceremonies at firstname.lastname@example.org and do not forget to “like” the prize on Facebook!
